Eligibility Criteria for 5,000 University of Toronto Scholarships

1. Students must be an international student (i.e., a non-Canadian requiring a study permit);
2. Students must be currently in their final year of secondary school or have graduated no earlier
3. Students must begin their studies at the University of Toronto in September (students already attending post-secondary studies cannot be considered for the 5,000 University of Toronto Scholarship; students starting their studies at another post-secondary institution cannot be considered, so apply before the deadline).

English Language Requirements Exemption

1. Students must have completed/be completing four or more years of full-time English language academic program in a recognized Canadian school in the 5,000 University of Toronto Scholarships  OR
2. Students must have completed/be completing four or more years of full-time academic study in an English language school; then they can apply for the 5,000 University of Toronto Scholarships.
3. Duolingo English Test Acceptable for this program
4. IELTS is also Acceptable (The minimum requirement is 6.5 overall, with no band below 6.0) for the 5,000 University of Toronto scholarships.

How can I suggest a pupil?

Every year, beginning in September, high schools that have already been validated by Enrollment Services will get an email with a secure, customized nomination form. Please fill out an application to be a part of our program, which will be available online starting in September, if your school has not been confirmed. (Link external) We will send you your school’s nomination form and the following stages as soon as your school has been authenticated.

I want to recommend more than one pupil.

Each year, schools may propose one student. The purpose of the Pearson Scholarship is to honor deserving students worldwide. Your school selects your best candidate for nomination as part of the selection process. We want educational institutions to suggest the pupil who most perfectly embodies the attributes of a Pearson Scholar.

Yes, you are able to propose a student who is not yet enrolled at U of T. However, candidates must first apply for admission to U of T before they may submit their scholarship application.
